Being in love it's one of the most beautiful things in the world. Personally, I believe that having a romantic relationship is part of the human experience, it makes it better. However, since we've been having them for thousands and thousands of years, we may carry with us some old lens to observe human interactions.
Things got all messy with the rise of technology and the sexual revolution. And not in a fun way!
People started looking at sex as something you do. But the truth is, sex is something deeper [no pun intended].
Sex it's a language and humans took it way beyond any other animal in human kingdom.
As Ester says,
Animals have sex. We humans, have erotic minds.
That's a big difference.
Our erotic minds bring with it some issues, that no other animal has to worry about.
The word erotic comes from EROS, a Greek word that translates to desire. But not just a sexual one. Esther talks about how danger and defiance may arouse humans as much as sex itself. In fact, sometimes, one leads to another because they’re so close in our erotic minds.
One of the things that characterize our relationships is the balance between stability and novelty, safety and excitement. That's true for humans, companies, families, and, of course, couples.
This is hard to do.
We strive for this balance and the only way to get it is by having an active role.
It’s, like any other goal, something you work towards.
Love is not a feeling, it's a verb.
It's a project that needs attention and care. Unfortunately, people keep falling for the "Cinderella Trap.
Love “just happens”. If it's not perfect 100% of the time, it's not the relationship you should be in...
I mean, c’mon! Everyone talks about how important hard work and dedication are in professional life. Why on earth would love and relationships be any different?
That's why I love this quote by Erick Fromm:
Love isn't something natural. It requires discipline, concentration, patience, faith and the overcoming of narcissism.
We need more love in our world.
It’s a project and we must start it right now.
